When a group of people gather together with the intention to help each other heal our separation from nature, this shared intention itself is the healing we seek. /John Seed/
The opening workshop of Kometa Academy is intended as a symbolic space to come together and honor the land, where the festival takes place and the generations of more-than-humans that form the ancestral path of this particular place. Through a series of personal and interpersonal exercises and experiences, participants will be invited to practice and deepen their empathy towards the Earth, other beings, and reconnect with the echoes of the Earth within oneself.
The workshop embraces the principles and approaches of deep ecology – acknowledging the interconnectedness of all systems of life on Earth; de-centering the human; bringing together feeling, thinking, spiritual connection to Earth, and action. No pre-registry needed, come as you are, and we will accommodate all bodies and languages, yet – the workshop is 3 hours, and it is required from the participants to commit to the full duration of it.
The workshop will be led by Liene Jurgelane, one of the organizers of festival Kometa, anthropologist, and co-founder of “new visions”.
“new visions” is a Berlin-based collective that works with leaders in culture and arts to transform existing narratives and thus create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world. “new visions” conducts research, creates and facilitates learning spaces, and offers events and consultancy, all exploring questions of justice and transformational leadership. The core of their work is built on notions of love, solidarity, interconnectedness, imagination, and a holistic approach.
