Kometa is taking part in the Danish Cultural Institute’s project “UrbCulturalPlanning”. One of the main goals of this project is to map the cultural and social aspects of overlooked districts in cities across the Baltic Sea region. Festival «Komēta» invited artists Inga Erdmane and Edd Schouten to explore mapping through an artistic perspective.
To explore a more personal context of the lines set on the map, they invited people closely connected/ or living in Bolderāja and/or Daugavgrīva to describe the map line that is of special importance for them. They then physically met on that line, walked it trough if possible; asked them to tell the story behind it, and reflect on it while taking their portrait.
During «Komētas Dejas» we invite everyone to experience the abstraction of the personal space and to discover the stories that transform the two-dimensional lines you can find on maps into three-dimensional people; people that made, enjoyed and experienced the mapped lines found in Bolderāja and Daugavgrīva.
