Edyta Jarzab, workshop “Teach Yourself to Fly”
The workshop will look for a possible balance between sounding and listening by focusing on energetic processes, play, improvisation, and non-hierarchic synchronicity. We will look for harmonies as well as dissonances, rhythm, chaos, the amplitude of volume and sound effects.
Participants experience a common sound reality in which we listen to the resonating body in relations with others, the body as a sensitive receiver of waves and a sensitive instrument, we will observe the twitching of the skull bones.
Let’s derive sounds of our bodies from aesthetics, making sounds as a part of everyday experience and co-existence. Everyone is welcome to join, no singing or musical experience needed.
Edyta is a performance and sound artist working with voice and machines, poetry, field recordings, radio waves and body as a sensitive transmitter and receiver. She has been practising deep listening with Pauline Oliveros, and studying Hindustani raga musical system in Varanasi, India.
